A Trip to the Caribbean

Since living in a landlocked state where winter is from around October to about March, I have found that every once and awhile I want to escape and go somewhere with white sandy beaches and the warm sunshine. For today’s journey, we are going to hop on an airplane that will take us to the beautiful island of Curacao. Curacao is a Dutch Caribbean island that is known for its dive sites, extensive beaches, and rich marine life.

With Curacao becoming a more popular stop for cruise ships and tourists. The capital of Curacao is Willemstad and what is very unique about there buildings is that they are all different pastel colors. People have also found that the white sandy beaches and marine life is not the only thing that this island has to offer. If you want to take a day and see something other then the beaches they also have shopping within the town, city tours, off-road buggy adventures, and numerous other things.

One of the most important parts of a trip is food. When doing a quick google search I found that some of the most recommended food that you try is Keshi Yena, Oliebollen, and Stroopwalfes. Keshi Yena is a large round ball of cheese stuffed with spiced meat which also has various vegetables in it. Oliebollen is a deep-fried dumpling with powdered sugar on it (basically a donut). And lastly, a Stroopwalfes is two very thin wafer-like waffles with caramel in the middle. Have have had a stroopwafel before and they are very good.

Another really important thing to consider when booking a vacation is what the weather is going to be like during the time you will be there. In Curacao there, the dry season is normally between the months of January and September and the rainy months are between the months of October and December. What is also really nice is that temperatures range from low 90’s to high 70’s throughout the whole year.

Although I have never been to Curacao I feel like this will be one place that I want to travel in the future. When researching this place I had found so many interesting places you can see and things you can do with not all of them having to do with going to beaches. The beaches are still a really good added bonus and the amount of marine like would be really interesting to see. There are so many more reasons that I want to visit this island but this blog entry would be going on forever.
